Highlights of the 1st official debate in Parliament today? Nothing much except rowdy name-calling between Karpal Singh and Bung Mokhtar addressing each other as “Big Foot” and “Monkey”. So far, Speaker Pandikar Amin did a good job in controlling the situation. Most of the new MP’s remain silent, walking in and out to the washroom.
Kick-off and Shut-up time for all Aspirants!
30 04 2008
Forget about the Gerakan’s brain-storming session which has never been an efficient one. Instead allows all aspirants, young and experienced leaders to have a constructive discussion (coffee talk, teh-tarik, beer) to agree on a clear objectives of the party. Those of you in PGRM who wants to contest, gear up and prepare your ammunition on the following dates:
National party elections: 11 Oct 2008 / State: by 19 September 2008 (KL: 23/8; S’gor: 7/9) / Division: 28 July 2008 / Branch: 31 May to 16 June, 2008.
By the way, what are Tan Kee Kwong (Ron) and gang trying to prove by blaming Keng Yaik? Countless times have been mentioned to forget about self-interest or personal agenda but to rejuvenate and produce a harmonious/united party. Tak habis-habis pertempuran di antara BN komponen, apatah lagi sengaja nak disiarkan kepada media; kawan di PR senyum selalu. Do not dwell on people’s mistake or personal attacks but focus on the present and move on! So Shut Up and Move On (read that ‘SUMO’ book).
Aging members and leaders of political party must understand the real world now, gone are the days of your grandfather’s philosophies. When you are old, you rot but when you are young, you keep growing! Words do have consequences, and what one generation says but does not really believe, the next generation may believe and even act upon. Public acceptance of ideas and criticisms are themselves progress of a kind, but what really matters is that it provides leverage to bring about more concrete progress.
In an unrelated news, groups of civil society and Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) in Penang condemned councillors’ appointment by Lim Guan Eng’s government as “did not meet the principles, criteria and processes of political appointment”. “It is undemocratic and non-transparent, and lacking public consultation”. Dah startlah, it is easy to say one thing but to do it is a whole different ball game. Keep observing my dear rakyat.

MALAYSIANS, It’s time to wake up!
29 04 2008Many of you particularly from the urban areas had voted for the Opposition during the last general election. Whether it was to voice up your dissatisfaction with the BN/UMNO, to give the Opposition a chance for betterment of the ‘check and balance’ system, to deny BN 2/3 majority or believing the Opposition’s manifestos/agendas, it is now the time for you to observe the quality of the fruits labored as the 12th Parliament q&a session actually kicks off tomorrow with much anticipated fiery debates.
Before I proceed, we must bear in mind that Malaysia is a nation with different cultures, races, religions and history. Thus a country of such will not be easy to govern to the satisfaction of all people with different backgrounds and expectations. Whatever it is I consider that Malaysia is a prosperous, modern Islamic nation in which the 3 main ethnic groups coexist peacefully, while maintaining their unique cultural identities.
My dear family members and friends (please ask around too), are you really convinced that those people you have voted for has the integrity and calibre to represent and voice your concern? I can understand that veteran opposition such as Kit Siang, Karpal, Hadi, Nik and Anwar will have the experience and skills to prove their worth, what about many of those whom are in as a convenience or pure luck? Look at Gwo Burne, the Kelana Jaya MP (popularly known as the Lingam’s footage camera man) what can he do? Snapping around with his new Canon even at yesterday’s session! What about Manoharan who is still in Kamunting detention centre, what is he doing with all the free time in there? Don’t say nothing can be done in the cell, he can always plan and intiate action through his proxy. Do you actually know him well beside being a lawyer and Hindraf leader? Needless do I have to elaborate on Tony and Jeff, the gunghos of blogging who managed to influence the people by their decent looks and baseless philosophy. What about Teresa Kok? Undoubtedly she has been there for many years, working hard on ground works but is Seputeh/Sri Petaling such a great place to shout about, with one of the highest crime rates and messy housing estate. Many residents (Puchong) expressed their views and objectives last week for her to pursue but to their disappointment, several suggestions were replied not within her jurisdiction or power. Come on, isn’t she is the senior exco now? In relation to Karpal’s sons, beside being a good litigator in court, are they sincerely want to become the wakil rakyat to help the people or just a platform to establish their legal practice. As for Tian Chua, until he knows how to groom himself properly and tidy up his room, that simply reflects the kind of works he is capable, not to mention forgetting his question list for submission. Last but not least, Anwar Ibrahim the hero, what has he done beside playing his political gimmicks in the media. By the way he was in the Parliament today just as an observer and for lunch with the King and PM. When asked of his plan to return in Parliament, he replied “I’m here already” (another sarcastic remark). His supporters may say: wait and see, he has the capability and power to transform things, why now? Why can’t he do it during his tenure as DPM and Ministers of high porfolios?
This morning my wife and sister in law for the first time praised the government departments for their efficiency. My 2 months old nephew got his Mykid within 25 minutes at PJ JPN whereby my kids received their passports within 2 hours with excellent service. Much criticisms were made on Pak Lah by most (if not all) of you even within the party. Look at the media now, gone are the days that they are pro-BN particularly if we scrutinise the Chinese dailies (esp during election). In addition Youtube, blogs, sms, Malaysiankini etc were practically in full support of the Opposition. Do you think all this can happen if Dr.M is still in power? Pak Lah’s recent action in relation to judiciary reforms, ACA independence, socio-development plans has indeed worth the praise but did any of the Opposition comment? Can we really blame him for the big blow of the election as many describe him as ‘weak’? A resounding NO! Is he arrogant? I do not think so. What about others? Ahh that I will say in positive. So do we expect him to act like Mahathir or Lee Kuan Yew in order to dominate his power fiercely. Yes, all he needs now is some good advisors and Ministers who are sincere and capable. Building a strong political party or nation is a product of building great people. it is then such leadership can change the country. My good friend David always buy the idea that politicians are there to sell their ‘belief’, that I do not dispute but the sincerity and how they do it is of utmost important in order for us to buy that ‘belief’. Deeds and the life of Nabi Muhammed, Jesus Christ, Gautama Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela qualify my latter statement convincingly.
So regardless of our backgrounds, age, status and race, for the sake of equality and democracy, do observe your MPs and ADUNs for the coming years as to see whether they are working for themselves or YOU (the rakyat). Enjoy being a Malaysian! Happy Labour Day.
[LATEST: Gwo Burne offered his Kelana Jaya seat to Anwar. There he goes, I'm sure there is a motive behind this beside he knows nothing about politics. Perhaps the videoclips was a plot guided by Anwar?]
[LATEST 29/4]: by YB Teresa Kok
”I qued up to wait for my turn to swear in as MP. This photo was taken by YB Loh Gwo Burne, the PKR MP for Kelana Jaya from his seat.
I was finally sworn in as a third term Member of Parliament on Monday. I feel great to be able to come back to Parliament and met with some sparring partners from BN. We congratulated each other when we met at the Parliament lobby. For some of them, like MP for Kinabatangan dan Sri Gading, I jokingly asked them, “Hey, you masih ada kah?” You See! After 3 days that Gwo Burne still busy taking photos!!!

Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah
28 04 2008
“Saya Ketua Pembangkang Parlimen!”
PM and DPM led the government MPs to take oath in the first parliamentary session today. This time round, there is no more 2/3 majority led by BN. PKR President Dr.Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, an ophtalmologist and wife of Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is elected as the head of the opposition at the Dewan Rakyat, being the first woman in history. Previously this position was held by Mr.Lim Kit Siang of DAP for 3 terms. So jangan main-main dengan woman, baling high-heel shoes baru tahu!
This 12th Parliament will also be a test for BN and PR MPs whether they act for themselves or for the people!

Syed Ali is an asshole!
28 04 2008
For those of you who don’t know him, he is the ketua UMNO bahagian Cheras. When I read in Malaysiakini about his comment related to Datuk Hishammuddin noble character in apologising his keris-waving action, he criticises as if it was an awful disgrace to Melayu. He also disagrees with what the PM did last week pertaining to Tun Salleh Abbas’s dismissal in 1988. What sort of leader is he?? Does he realised that we are living in the 20th century and a harmonious multi-racial society? There is no issue pertaining to the symbol whether it is in the party’s flag or the culture. There is even no question of ‘jatuhkan maruah dan hak Melayu’! Imagine how would Nabi Muhammad reacts if he is here today? It is this people who cakap macam tak ada otak tanpa memikirkan kepentingan negara. Hishammuddin bukan sahaja membuktikan orang Melayu adalah manusia yang berbudi-bahasa, bertolak-ansur dan beriman but is waking up to the real world.
What about Tan Sri Nor’s comment that Malays should copy from the Jewish and Chinese? Isn’t that is even worse if one wants to interpret it negatively? Whether Hishammuddin is doing for personal agenda or not, it is the right thing to do! Ali go and familiarise yourself with the kitab Al-Quran and study the history of Malays before making such a ridiculous remarks! Ada orang sanggup mengatakan yang bukan-bukan untuk dapatkan glamour, indeed a sick man! Siapa yang nak ‘jawatan’ Pak Ali?
Adakah orang Melayu hari ini sanggup mengenepikan perbezaan falsafah politik demi mencapai sasaran sebenar perjuangan agenda Melayu zaman sekarang?
[Latest on 29.4.08 - Syed Ali quits from his post as Cheras BN deputy chairman with immediate effect]

Obama vs Clinton
27 04 2008The race so far:
1494 1333
2025 Delegates Needed
Next on 6 May, Indiana and Sth Carolina, polls show very tought fight – 45% each. Check out their websites particularly the method of the fund-raising, hmm quite interesting, isn’t that money-politics too? Believe it or not Obama currently has more funds although Clinton approaches mostly big guns. Many Americans still cannot accept a black to be their President, racism and discrimination are an inevitable fact in today’s world. Can Lim Guan Eng or Lim Si Pin or Lim Keh Ho becomes a PM in Malaysia one day?

RM9.9 million rolling around by VVIPs wives…
26 04 2008No one wld dispute that some wives of former Ministers, Deputy Ministers and MPs are a bunch of happy-go-lucky materialistic women. Fortunately not until the opposition won the election last month. Balkis to Bakti, to charities, to organisers, to wives and ultimately channel to? Aiyoh even a kid knows the game well. Where did the monies come from? Fund-raising activities? My foot! List out to me what are the activities or functions organised by them? Let alone for the sum of RM9.9 mil. Can you imagine an association having so much $? Khir Toyo defended his wife, alleging that they fear Pakatan government might remove some of the students from the list…what a lame, baseless and unfoundeed accusation. Oklah a bit charity as camourflage but look at Selangor ex-CM since they lost the state – water issue, corruption, land fraud, compensation of concessionaire, previous billboard issues plus ‘broom ceremony’, disposal of secret docs etc. Khir should shut his mouth for a while otherwise jadi Toyol!
Was it CBT? Money was transferred once the Opp took over office, with approval of the committee? Does she has the right to do so? What a hasty move, so who say women are better financial controller? Or are they the desperate housewives as Jeff quoted?

Aku Bunuh Kau! Acha saja…jangan marah eh?
25 04 200811.02pm – Hari ini keris, esok M16? That’s was mentioned by some opposition candidates during the GE12. Indeed that keris waving had alienated many Malaysians and was responsible for driving many Chinese and Indians into the clutches of the Opposition will not be repeated. Datuk Hishammuddin said just now: I AM SORRY, I DID NOT MEAN IT. He realised that folly act has cost BN dearly during the election, at least one of the major factor.
Gerakan, MCA and MIC were pleased with Hishammuddin’s apology. Hishamuddin said that he was sorry if his keris waving action had affected non-Malays. He also apologised to the Malays – MT. At least there’s some hope in his political career, could it be Hussein Onn’s spirit? OKlah perhaps it was a harsh act, if we can forgive Chua Soi Lek, Chin Peng, Kah Choon etc, let bygones be bygones…

A snap that worth USD6.5 million!
25 04 20088.45pm – The People’s Magazine paid USD6.5 million to Jennifer Lopez just to have the right for taking this photo! The twins Maximilian David and Emme Maribel were born on Feb 22 by C-section. I wonder why no one offers me when my children were born. RM1000 pun jadi…
Just for fun:
Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the
family business. When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when
his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife with which to share
his fortune. One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most
beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away.
“I may look like just an ordinary man,” he said to her, “but in just a
few years, my father will die, and I’ll inherit 200 million dollars.”
Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days
later, she became his stepmother.

Do you believe Anwar? Part III
DPM Najib “Anwar hanya main politik.
Bung Mokhtar: “Anwar gila kuasa. Apa yang dinyatakan kebelakangan ini adalah satu ‘political gimmick’. Dia sedang mencari pelbagai jalan untuk mendapatkan kuasa”.
Ok, now my turn: Sejak semalam selepas permainan badminton di KLGCC, satu sesi perbincangan bebas politik berlangsung bersama David, Kek Ho dan Alan.
Saya tersinggung dgn keyakinannya di akhbar the Star: “If BN say we do not have the numbers, we will prove them wrong. We will see. The surprise will be coming, maybe in August”

Bikin penguasa gelabah
Ada konco melatah
Konon kita merasuah!
Balas Sdr Andy:
Memang pahit buah peria
Makanan orang pergi menjala
Jikalau mengaku taat setia
Bersamalah kita pertahan negara!

Do you believe Anwar? Part II
24 04 2008Indeed, it is the talk of the town…had lunch at Lucky Garden food courts, over heard the apek, lawyers, office-attired and even the ah bengs talk about him. Told by a friend that Wan Azizah mentioned in yesterday’s Chinese papers, she wants to become the first woman as PM. So wife vs husband?
Let us continue to look into what have been highlighted by Anwar recently to stir the emotions of Malaysians generally. I realised that one of his strategy is to champion on national issues such as to abolish ISA, to curb corruption, to subsidise more on petrol etc…He has yet to attack on any of the BN leaders directly except claiming that Dr.M is an old and sick man. Anwar had been around the government many years back holding positions of DPM, Minister of Finance, Education, Youth. Inevitably he has the advantage to analyse the manner of the internal system which is familiar to him. Why wouldn’t he fights for the reforms or changes pertaining to those national issues then? Isn’t he was also one of the player? Come on…these issues have been there for a long time. If he champions for a true Malaysian society, he should propose to dissolve the PKR, DAP and PAS, and merge into a single-entity party (as suggested by Mah S K) ie forming Pakatan Rakyat as a Malaysian party, then I dare to say he is on the right track. Due to historical and multi-racial reasons, we in Malaysia have so many political parties that foster unhealthy practices. Why can’t we become like US (Democrat and Republican) or Britain (Labour and Liberal) that fight for the people irregardless of race? Did Anwar ever mention about abolishing the NEP? No! (but David said he did!) At least the wife did suggested the ideas of replacing Malays’ privilege as the Rakyat’s privilege.
Also when he talks about ‘comfortable majority’, I’ll take it around 35 seats in hand, is that possible? Don’t tell me all the 30s from Sabah & Sarawak is acceptable. No doubt he is an orator who speaks to the tune of the general interest of the rakyat. Let us not forget, was he really innocent of the sodomy charge? Where would the DPP get the exhibits proving DNA of his sperm then. Was he clean physically, morally and politically? neh…
It is time for a leader in Malaysia to really champion for equality and unity. As far as I’m concern Anwar has yet to reach that spirit or conviction to bring us into a truely developed nation. A person like him after so many years in politics and imprisonment should have gone to lead a normal life (esp $ is not an issue), what is he actually fighting for? One obvious answer: Power. There is nothing wrong with this provided he is sincere and compassionate to develop a fair, harmonious and successful country. Think about it…

Do you believe Anwar? Part I
24 04 2008Ok folks enough of Kah Choon, we’ve been fools to read in the papers all kind of stories as it seems that he has premeditated his intention. Now PKR and DAP are wooing him. Datuk Chang Ko Youn, Gerakan’s vice-president confessed that the reason Lee took up the posts was because he failed to get what he wanted from the party but declined to reveal what was it that he wanted. Why is he keeping a secret since he knew it earlier what Lee has in mind? Come on so long as you leaders out there keep pretending or putting an act, they or the party can never excel. Cut the crap of behaving like a ‘professional politician’! Back to the basic as it has always been said – be sincere! Whatever Lee’s agenda is, I wish him all the best!
Let us look into the Anwar’s plan, something that everybody is talking about it now. Is he for real? Can he be trusted? As discussed previously he has keep everyone in suspense and playing a guessing game. The crux of the matter is WHEN is he taking over the govt? He claims: ”God willing…if not next month, then June or July or Merdeka or Malaysia Day. I think we should not go beyond that” (this will change the bookie’s odds!). So the meaning of within ‘3 years’ as mentioned yesterday was correctly defined by me.
In today’s Star he claims that he would be a better PM than Pak Lah and Tun Mahathir. He is also not in a hurry to take over the government yet although he already has the numbers. “We want a comfortable majority” as said. Hmm what is he up to? Cunning enough to stir up the issue through the medias, gatherings, blogs and websites. How is he anticipating what the rakyat thinks and the BN leaders feel?
Some of the highlights of his remarks:
“It is not very difficult to be a better government, to control corruption, to be more just, to improve the quality of education, public health, to stop the squandering of billions of dollars on your family members and cronies. That is quite easy,” he said
“The more challenging task is to change the course” of the country, he said, listing economic competitiveness, promoting a market economy, social justice and training of manpower as the main tasks.
“We are not here to improve. We are here to change for the better,”
“Either way, it is good for us,” he said. If Abdullah is ousted, “it will break UMNO. If Abdullah continues, it is also good for us because he is weak.”
Can anyone tell me is it possible to search for people like Musa Hitam or Tengku Rithaudeen today?

Thomas Cup, EURO ‘08 or Olympics?
24 04 2008It is 2.10 am, managed to complete that tedious and thick injunction affidavit finally. So thought of dropping some lines here while waiting for the live telecast of Barcelona vs Manchester Utd. (Latest: Final score 0:0, luckily dosed off after 10 minutes of play. MU awarded a penalty at the 2nd min but Ronaldo failed to execute it, nonetheless a fair result)
Ok, real men out there, jot this down into your diary, pda or organiser: Thomas Cup at Jakarta on 16.5.08 > EURO 2008 at Switz/Austria on 7.6.08 > Beijing Olympics on 8.8.08.
Among the above, I am convinced that nothing is like the World Cup (football). With games like air gun shooting, equestrian skills, cycling and fencing, what is the separation line between sport and hobby? Who should get the medal on the podium for equestrian – the horse or the rider? And with seemingly endless competitions in track & field, swimming and gymnastics, even in an Olympic year, what purpose does Olympic serve?
The World Cup, on the other hand, is a display of athleticism, strategy, and drama that people worldwide, rich and poor, can watch. It is a sport virtually anyone can play at any time, anywhere. People of all colours at every corner talk aboout it during the season. Punters, bookies, bettors are also the happy ones. So isn’t that World Cup is the ONE event that lifts up the spirit? What about badminton?

Kah Choon calls it a day!
23 04 2008As expected, after all the controversies and critics, Datuk Lee Kah Choon has decided to leave Gerakan.
He said to press: “Dengan ini, saya harap perkara ini akan selesai dan kita boleh meneruskan langkah untuk mengendalikan tugas-tugas penting,”. So being in Gerakan sudah tak penting lagi?
Hopefully he will not join the Pakatan, otherwise we shall know his real intention, like mentioned below, this is what he has planned…
In an unrelated story, Bush just won in Pennsylvania against Obama, what a ping-pong!

Believe it or not, Anwar is in a dilemma.
23 04 2008[Latest at 8.05pm: Anwar told Malaysiakini that he will be the PM within 3 years! What a political statement, that can simply means tomorrow or next week! Hmm real cunning, is he a trustworthy person?]
Had lunch with a group of tai-kos (ah longs, bookies, dealers, pirated dvd producers). Surprisingly one of them mentioned about my blog and requested more juicy and simple English write ups. Inevitably our conversation starts of with the Champion league match this morning, what a luck to Chelsea! Guess what? The bookie has created a betting-pool out there to allow punters to bet on whether Pak Lah’s resignation is within 3 months time. The odds? If yes, win 90 lose 75 and if no, win 68 lose 100, macam-macam boleh berlaku in M’sia!
After 2 weeks of observation particularly in relation to Anwar’s agenda by talking to Wan Azizah, Nurul and Siva (of course the wife & daughter were very conservative but I still managed to use my utmost psychology skills…), I am inclined to believe that Anwar is currently in a dilemma!
First of all my question is whether Anwar a changed man (esp after 6 years of imprisonment)? A leopard will never change its spots! If we are to scrutinise Anwar’s era as DPM as well as the Finance/Education Minister, what has he actually done for the good of the nation? Few may realised that one of disaster caused by him was the Ops Lallang - putting spies into the Chinese schools, poor Kim Sai became the scapegoat – cabut to Australia. So will he become a good PM or can he become one? I am agreeable with many out there that his ultimate aim is to become the PM. Is it true that he has enough supporters to oust the current government? I doubt so. Will he rejoin UMNO if Pak Lah invited him (though unlikely as Najib & gang will object)? Most likely as that will be the best platform to achieve his aim. But what about his followers, are they agreeable? Ahh there is where he is stucked…He had indeed put in tremendous effort in the last election and the multi-racial candidates did played a vital role. Thanks to PM’s 13 days campaign period by allowing him to travel nationwide. Should have call the election after his dateline to prevent such occurence.
Ok Anwar has successfully recruited many non-Malays to be in his party which was also another factor that led to his victory. This is his main concern now as he has to be accountable to them otherwise if PKR is a Malay-based party, things will be much easier to compromise his return to UMNO. I’m sure there are times he questions himself: “did I made the right move by allowing multi-racial leaders in the party?”. It would not requires a super intelligent person to check his background or what sought of mentality he has during his university life.
It was also estimated about RM200 millions were spent during the election, where the hack did he has got so much money?? Did he sacrifice from his own pocket? Again I doubt so, this is where Dr.M’s statement contains some element of truth, the nation will be a slave to the Jewish (US) if he becomes the PM. Meaning? Foreign funding, kena ikut arahanlah! Why and what for? That we have to ask him as what is RM200 mil for the Americans. So my dear readers, evaluate wisely whether should he be our next PM although you may think that being an ordinary citizen, it makes no difference to you at the end of the day.

Leavelah Gerakan, my dear Kah Choon!
23 04 2008Gerakan Wanita head Datuk Tan Lian Hoe had called on Lee Kah Choon to surrender his party membership after accepting posts in two Penang government agencies. “He should resign because all Gerakan members have seen what he has done,”. She said Lee must leave Gerakan without waiting for the Gerakan leadership to decide it for him. The party would not break up if Lee’s membership was withdrawn, she said. “We have seen the solidarity spirit of party members is still strong through Lee has relinguished party posts,” said Tan who is Deputy Information Minister. Two days ago, Penang CM Lim Guan Eng announced Lee’s appointment as Penang Development Corporation director and InvestPenang chairman. Pak Lah said Lee’s decision to accept the posts was against the coalition’s spirit and he should have conferred with the Gerakan leadership first. I think it will be ideal if he just get out and be a good director but of course the consequence of his personal & political ethics being jeered and criticised will be another story. Perhaps this was his plan all this while?
Oh yes, Tan LH also confirms that live telecast of parliamentary debate will last only half an hour for a start. I like the way she use the word ’solidarity spirit’, that reminds me of recent stand against critics that Gerakan is ‘irrelevant’ now as per Chai and Gerakan ‘macam kapal sudah tenggelam’ said Rahim.

Bukit Gasing court case
23 04 20088.35 am Kuala Lumpur High Court R1:
Last week tackle mak, now anak pulak…
On the last hearing the residents were also granted leave to quash the decision of the Kuala Lumpur mayor not to hold a public hearing on the application by Gasing Meridian Sdn Bhd (GMSB) for a development order.
Judge Lau Bee Lan directed the mayor, who is the respondent in the case, to forward a copy of the reports and documents pertaining to the application by GMSB to the residents at least a month before the next court hearing.
The documents would include reports from a geological survey, soil structure and soil stability evaluations, proposed geohazard monitoring, hydrology report, environmental impact assessment (EIA), traffic impact analysis and social impact analysis from the authorities.
Also to be submitted are proposed site and lay-out plans, the earthwork plan with sections, the development report and documents produced by experts or consultants engaged by GMSB.
In their grounds of application, the residents, represented by counsel R. Sivarasa, said the mayor had erred in law and acted in excess of his jurisdiction when he wrote the letter stating that the procedure for hearing objections would not be implemented as it would violate existing rules and regulations.
The residents claimed the mayor had failed to take into account that they had a right under common law to be given due notice and to be given a chance to voice their opinions in the decision-making process of planning.
They stated that the mayor had acted in contrary to the policy and intent of the Federal Territory (Planning) Act 1982 (Act 267). Hopefully now with the Pakatan people around, things can be more transparent and in accordance to the law. Am I saying that the oppositions are of high calibre as wakil rakyat, that’s for you to interpret…
The Act also required the preparation of a local plan for Kuala Lumpur, which would have given not just adjoining owners, but all persons in the Federal Territory, a right to be heard in respect of the development plan for their area. The residents said the proposed development of 71 bungalows would be on steep hill slopes.
They also claimed that the 13 major landslides which had occurred in the Klang Valley and nationwide since 1993 provided ample proof of the real dangers in carrying out development projects on such steep slopes.
These included a landslide which was apparently caused by hill slope development in 1971 which severely damaged six government owned bungalows along Jalan Tanjung, Bukit Gasing. Thanks to lawyer Fernandez who shared the precise facts and his views on this matter to me.
Lau proceed today for an inter-parte hearing for the residents’ application to stop all further proceedings and actions by the mayor in respect of the application for planning permission by GMSB, pending the disposal of the inter-parte hearing for judicial review.
[Indeed Anwar's daughter (Nurul) does has a great complexion!]

22 04 2008Bravo! I’ve been talking about this issue for many years but are they for real?
In today’s Star: “ACA will be given more independence…announced by PM” ‘More independence’? Why not full independence? He did mentioned with the new MCAC (konon like ICAC), they are to be “fully independent”. Nonetheless, some of them argue that even in HK, the ICAC must report to the chief exec and BPR (or ACA) has always been independent as they are a statutory body under the Act. From the reform herein, all the reports would go to the Parliament instead of PM. Again my contention is not how the report, papers or system works but the ACA must has the autonomy with the right, fearless and intelligent people to use all avenues to detect/arrest the offenders irregardless of status and ranks, is that possible?
Many would say the recent actions taken by the PM were a great move but some say it was aimed at winning back support for BN (which is denied by PM). Undoubtedly, we can see the government as well as the opposition are doing their works with more accountability now.

A day in ISA Kamunting Detention Camp…
22 04 2008Monday 21.04.2008 - Tina and I started our journey at 7.00 am from Bukit Jalil before picking up Edmund Bon. The plan was 7 of us to be in the force of our 1st trip this term but Ambiga could not make it for unknown reason (yalah sudah jadi Datuk) as well as Hj Sulaiman due to his PC not found. Arrived at about 11.30 am, met Dara and Maniam, registered, waited and had lunch in the camp while waiting for the detainees to see us. Had chicken curry, not bad…We applied to see the 5 Hindrafs leaders but was refused. Anyway Edmund managed to shout from one building to another, talking to YB Manoharan, what a joke! At about 2.20pm there came the ten JI detainees. To my surprise in contrast to Sg Buloh or Kajang prisoners, most of them looks decent, clean and intellectual. They also speak good English. What transpired between us and the detainees are P&C, even the warden tried to hear what we are whispering….Two of them have been there for about 5 1/2 years already..likely to be extended. Some of the Philipine and Indonesian detainees were seeking political assylum or avenues to go back to their respective countries. We agreed to file in several habeas corpus applications. We informed that there will be a campaign of ‘Hash Run For ISA’ at around Kamunting on 26/4, some of them volunteered to be in the run… We bought some foods and drinks for them as they are only paid RM6 a month as allowance! Discussion, plans and agendas ended at about 4.15pm. Before leaving I had a long look at the surrounding, trying to figure out an escape route but it seems to be a tough one…

Lee Kah Choon’s Resignation Part II
22 04 2008[Latest 7.05 pm] The Gerakan CWC has decided to issue a show-cause letter to Lee.
Tengok! gua sudah tahu mesti ada hal di dalam perlantikan Lee di P.Pinang itu! After election all party members were directed to relinguish appointments of civil sectors ruled by Pakatan, now join balik pulak. As discussed below we have yet to know whether what Lee is doing is for the sake of the party or DAP or himself (though the latter seems to be the logic answer). Anyway the followings are some statements transpired between the leaders in relation to his appointment:
DPM Najib: “BN component parties should not take up appointments in Pakatan Rakyat-led Govt. What is Gerakan stand?”
Lim Keng Yaik: “Difficult for Kah Choon as both the Gerakan and DAP would be suspicious of him, don’t know how he is going to work. I really pity him”
Guan Eng: “We want to be fair to everyone. We do not want to differentiate or discriminate”
Biarlah ia begitu.”
Andy: “Time will tell but my guts feeling is mana ada Cina kasi musuh tolong kerja begitu senang?”
PM: “Bagi saya, ia OK selagi tidak bertentangan dengan dasar,” kata Pak lah.
“Mungkin (tindakan Lee) ini membuka jalan kerjasama (antara BN dengan Pakatan Rakyat),” tambahnya.
Andy: “Hmm, isn’t he is being more positive than the DPM?” Gerakan CWC is meeting tonight, let us see what they will do…
[Latest 5.17pm] Kah Choon: “Let me focus on my job. My political background and appointments are 2 totally different things. I hope Gerakan will not link them”
PM: “I want to hear the views of Gerakan acting president Koh TK on this matter. Any subsequent action will be left for Gerakan to decide”.
Karpal Singh: “It was wrong for Lee to accept the posts and should not have offered it in the first place”.

Lee Kah Choon’s resignation: ulterior motive?
21 04 2008Gerakan ex-deputy sec-gen resigned on 29.3.08 quoting due to personal reason as he felt responsible for the party’s dismal performance of the election. Yesterday he was appointed by DAP’s Lim Guan Eng (also CM) as the director of Penang Developer Corp Board and Invest Penang. So what do you think? Ask any laymen of which I actually did, all of them (3 in total) reply: “Apa lagi? Lompatlah, mana cantik di situlah pergi…” I sought of agree to such perception particularly for CM Lim to trust his political foe in carrying such a responsibility. Let us see, as time will tell, if he eventually joins DAP then we know the obvious answer…or could it be he is doing it for the sake of the party?

MPs Forgot Their Homework?
20 04 2008
PKR Tian Chua’s excuse: ”I forgot about it…but this is only the first session…”, DAP Ramasamy: “I prepared but last minute something came up so overlooked…” Whatever reason, it is the attitude! Irresponsible wakil rakyat. If they can be excused, my children can do the same in school with the same excuses, what a role model they are! Preparing of questions prior to the session (21 days given!) are the most basic of tasks which they failed to comply. Aren’t these people suppose to be excited to debate at the proceedings with the same exuberance during the election ceramahs?
Previously most of them in support of broadcasting live telecast of Parliament proceedings, but now did not submit questions, so what for debate? Baling kasut or cat walk around Dewan Rakyat?

‘Delivering Justice, Renewing Trust’
18 04 2008Dinner at JW Marriott last night…Indeed as stated yesterday, all agendas were fulfilled except not as ‘compensation’ but ex gratia payment…
” What is Andy trying to prove?”
So now he says… “… that the Government is proposing the setting up of a Judicial Appointments Commission to identify and recommend candidates for the judiciary to the Prime Minister…”, and I say WHEN…..and how. Maybe several years down the road, we will still be wondering about when this would come about..
Then, he said that he “….will initiate a review of the judiciary’s terms of service and remuneration…”, and this I believe they have been doing and will do. — Nothing NEW here.
And then we have the 1988 Judicial Crisis – and there was NO APOLOGY – only that “…In recognition of the contributions of the six outstanding judges, the Government has decided to make goodwill ex gratia payments to them….” Again no mention of any sum… and totally inadequate…
It would have been better if the PM said that these judges (or their living spouses) will be paid pensions from now on , and that they will receive in lump-sum all pension payments that they should have been receiving since their removal until this date. This would have been so much more better – and would amount to an unspoken apology – an unspoken admission that their removal was wrong….BUT NO…
And now, when there is call for his removal from within his own party – and also a certain amount of dissatisfaction amongst the component BN parties, to whom he is still showing little respect… (MIC, MCA and GERAKAN have openly called for the HINDRAF 5 but this PM is not even listening to them …let alone releasing the HINDRAF 5) – CH: BC. Aduhai…I wonder where the future lies for BN (or Gerakan)…

Asian Badminton Champ’ship ‘08
18 04 2008Hafiz upsets Bao Chunlai to qualify for the q-finals today. Also cruised through are veteran Wong Chun Han, doubles Koo/Tan, Chng/Lee, Zakri/Faiza and Wong Mew Choo. Unfortunately no more much anticipated final between Lin Dan and Chong Wei as the latter lost to Ponsanak. More quality players to groom from KLGCC!
[Latest] Believe it or not badminton pun ada kelong! Lin Dan intentionally lost to compatriot Chen Jin in order to allow Chinese players to have the top 3 seeded positions for the Olympic.

PM plans judiciary reforms tonight!
17 04 2008PM will anounce his plans for the judiciary reforms and express regrets over 1988 crisis at JW Marriott Hotel tonight, I’ll be there as the BC is hosting the dinner. Some of the agendas are as the followings:
• Judicial Commission to appoint judges
• Greater independence for the judiciary
• Financial compensation to sacked judges
• Expression of regret by PM Abdullah
FIGHTING back stiff opposition from his own Cabinet and administration, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is set to unveil major reforms to the country’s much-maligned judiciary.
The reforms will include the setting up of a Judicial Commission that will be responsible for the selection and the promotion of judges. It will also feature changes to the Federal Constitution that will restore greater independence to the judiciary, senior government officials and lawyers said.
Cheers! Hopefully ada beer later…

DPM: No worries mate!
17 04 2008Najib said earlier that no evidence of UMNO members are about to defect to the opposition:
“We are watching it very closely of course but so far there is no indication of anyone wanting to cross over,” he told reporters.
Still, the statement was a tacit acknowledgment of the deep instability in the Malay party, which has governed Malaysia since independence in 1957 as the dominant member of the National Front coalition.
Anwar Ibrahim said Monday he has the secret support of at least 30 government lawmakers, enough to bring down the government. Anwar’s opposition alliance has 82 seats in the 222-member Parliament and needs 30 more to form a majority of 112.
But Anwar said he does not want to form a government with a wafer-thin majority, and is waiting for more lawmakers to defect before making his move.
Najib said Anwar’s claim may be “gamesmanship,” but added, “we cannot take things for granted either.”
“Gamemanship”? Hmmm…

Anwar has enough supporter to topple the govt? Part II
16 04 2008BYE-BYE TO PAK LAH?
Last night at about 8 pm, Alan Tang called me to inform that he received news of BN is in a critical situation pertaining to the above question. His sources (reliable?) confirm that indeed Anwar is ready to make history anytime he wants to. I disagree, of course looking into the recent reports and hearsays from some of my political allies and enemies. Below are some of the comments pertaining to the same subject matter:
James Chin, political science professor at Monash University’s Kuala Lumpur campus, said coalition MPs were ready to defect because of UMNO infighting and uncertainty over Abdullah’s leadership.
“It is true MPs are waiting to jump. They will do it for money and power,” he told.
“Abdullah is fighting for his political life and Anwar is pouring oil onto the fire by stating that he has enough defectors to form the next government.”
Tricia Yeoh from the Centre for Public Policy Studies said Anwar was highlighting his ability to form the government in order to “inject in people’s mind that there can be an alternate government.”
“My gut feeling says yes. He has been rallying support in East Malaysia. It will be risky for him to lie,” she said, when asked if he had enough support to take power.
However, Domestic Trade Minister Shahrir Samad dismissed Anwar’s claims, saying he was not aware of any coalition lawmakers planning to jump.
“Not as far as I know,” he told.
Timbon Herbert Lagadan, a state assemblyman from Sabah, said Anwar’s comments were merely “political rhetoric.”
“I don’t think he will get MPs from Sabah or Sarawak to join him,” he affirms.
“Anwar is a man who cannot be trusted. He promised development for Sabah when he was deputy prime minister and finance minister but he failed to deliver.”
What say you?

S’pore PM: Is internet really the cause? Perhaps not…
16 04 2008THE recent elections in Malaysia have been described as a “political tsunami” brought on chiefly by the Malaysian government’s underestimation of the impact of the Internet.
But for Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the elections across the Causeway and in Taiwan, both of which saw incumbent ruling parties trounced, held some simple truths.
“My conclusion is this: If the People’s Action Party wants to continue to have the support of the people, it has to maintain an incorruptible and capable government; continue to reflect the wishes of the people; and continue to strive for a better future for Singapore,” said Mr Lee. So to emphasize on website and blog creation now may not be of much help instead of curbing corruption (as discussed below) and initiate a transparent and effective, fair and just government to all races, classes and people in Malaysia.
