Many of you particularly from the urban areas had voted for the Opposition during the last general election. Whether it was to voice up your dissatisfaction with the BN/UMNO, to give the Opposition a chance for betterment of the ‘check and balance’ system, to deny BN 2/3 majority or believing the Opposition’s manifestos/agendas, it is now the time for you to observe the quality of the fruits labored as the 12th Parliament q&a session actually kicks off tomorrow with much anticipated fiery debates.
Before I proceed, we must bear in mind that Malaysia is a nation with different cultures, races, religions and history. Thus a country of such will not be easy to govern to the satisfaction of all people with different backgrounds and expectations. Whatever it is I consider that Malaysia is a prosperous, modern Islamic nation in which the 3 main ethnic groups coexist peacefully, while maintaining their unique cultural identities.
My dear family members and friends (please ask around too), are you really convinced that those people you have voted for has the integrity and calibre to represent and voice your concern? I can understand that veteran opposition such as Kit Siang, Karpal, Hadi, Nik and Anwar will have the experience and skills to prove their worth, what about many of those whom are in as a convenience or pure luck? Look at Gwo Burne, the Kelana Jaya MP (popularly known as the Lingam’s footage camera man) what can he do? Snapping around with his new Canon even at yesterday’s session! What about Manoharan who is still in Kamunting detention centre, what is he doing with all the free time in there? Don’t say nothing can be done in the cell, he can always plan and intiate action through his proxy. Do you actually know him well beside being a lawyer and Hindraf leader? Needless do I have to elaborate on Tony and Jeff, the gunghos of blogging who managed to influence the people by their decent looks and baseless philosophy. What about Teresa Kok? Undoubtedly she has been there for many years, working hard on ground works but is Seputeh/Sri Petaling such a great place to shout about, with one of the highest crime rates and messy housing estate. Many residents (Puchong) expressed their views and objectives last week for her to pursue but to their disappointment, several suggestions were replied not within her jurisdiction or power. Come on, isn’t she is the senior exco now? In relation to Karpal’s sons, beside being a good litigator in court, are they sincerely want to become the wakil rakyat to help the people or just a platform to establish their legal practice. As for Tian Chua, until he knows how to groom himself properly and tidy up his room, that simply reflects the kind of works he is capable, not to mention forgetting his question list for submission. Last but not least, Anwar Ibrahim the hero, what has he done beside playing his political gimmicks in the media. By the way he was in the Parliament today just as an observer and for lunch with the King and PM. When asked of his plan to return in Parliament, he replied “I’m here already” (another sarcastic remark). His supporters may say: wait and see, he has the capability and power to transform things, why now? Why can’t he do it during his tenure as DPM and Ministers of high porfolios?
This morning my wife and sister in law for the first time praised the government departments for their efficiency. My 2 months old nephew got his Mykid within 25 minutes at PJ JPN whereby my kids received their passports within 2 hours with excellent service. Much criticisms were made on Pak Lah by most (if not all) of you even within the party. Look at the media now, gone are the days that they are pro-BN particularly if we scrutinise the Chinese dailies (esp during election). In addition Youtube, blogs, sms, Malaysiankini etc were practically in full support of the Opposition. Do you think all this can happen if Dr.M is still in power? Pak Lah’s recent action in relation to judiciary reforms, ACA independence, socio-development plans has indeed worth the praise but did any of the Opposition comment? Can we really blame him for the big blow of the election as many describe him as ‘weak’? A resounding NO! Is he arrogant? I do not think so. What about others? Ahh that I will say in positive. So do we expect him to act like Mahathir or Lee Kuan Yew in order to dominate his power fiercely. Yes, all he needs now is some good advisors and Ministers who are sincere and capable. Building a strong political party or nation is a product of building great people. it is then such leadership can change the country. My good friend David always buy the idea that politicians are there to sell their ‘belief’, that I do not dispute but the sincerity and how they do it is of utmost important in order for us to buy that ‘belief’. Deeds and the life of Nabi Muhammed, Jesus Christ, Gautama Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela qualify my latter statement convincingly.
So regardless of our backgrounds, age, status and race, for the sake of equality and democracy, do observe your MPs and ADUNs for the coming years as to see whether they are working for themselves or YOU (the rakyat). Enjoy being a Malaysian! Happy Labour Day.
[LATEST: Gwo Burne offered his Kelana Jaya seat to Anwar. There he goes, I'm sure there is a motive behind this beside he knows nothing about politics. Perhaps the videoclips was a plot guided by Anwar?]
[LATEST 29/4]: by YB Teresa Kok
”I qued up to wait for my turn to swear in as MP. This photo was taken by YB Loh Gwo Burne, the PKR MP for Kelana Jaya from his seat.
I was finally sworn in as a third term Member of Parliament on Monday. I feel great to be able to come back to Parliament and met with some sparring partners from BN. We congratulated each other when we met at the Parliament lobby. For some of them, like MP for Kinabatangan dan Sri Gading, I jokingly asked them, “Hey, you masih ada kah?” You See! After 3 days that Gwo Burne still busy taking photos!!!
