Highlights of the 1st official debate in Parliament today? Nothing much except rowdy name-calling between Karpal Singh and Bung Mokhtar addressing each other as “Big Foot” and “Monkey”. So far, Speaker Pandikar Amin did a good job in controlling the situation. Most of the new MP’s remain silent, walking in and out to the washroom.
Kick-off and Shut-up time for all Aspirants!
30 04 2008
Forget about the Gerakan’s brain-storming session which has never been an efficient one. Instead allows all aspirants, young and experienced leaders to have a constructive discussion (coffee talk, teh-tarik, beer) to agree on a clear objectives of the party. Those of you in PGRM who wants to contest, gear up and prepare your ammunition on the following dates:
National party elections: 11 Oct 2008 / State: by 19 September 2008 (KL: 23/8; S’gor: 7/9) / Division: 28 July 2008 / Branch: 31 May to 16 June, 2008.
By the way, what are Tan Kee Kwong (Ron) and gang trying to prove by blaming Keng Yaik? Countless times have been mentioned to forget about self-interest or personal agenda but to rejuvenate and produce a harmonious/united party. Tak habis-habis pertempuran di antara BN komponen, apatah lagi sengaja nak disiarkan kepada media; kawan di PR senyum selalu. Do not dwell on people’s mistake or personal attacks but focus on the present and move on! So Shut Up and Move On (read that ‘SUMO’ book).
Aging members and leaders of political party must understand the real world now, gone are the days of your grandfather’s philosophies. When you are old, you rot but when you are young, you keep growing! Words do have consequences, and what one generation says but does not really believe, the next generation may believe and even act upon. Public acceptance of ideas and criticisms are themselves progress of a kind, but what really matters is that it provides leverage to bring about more concrete progress.
In an unrelated news, groups of civil society and Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) in Penang condemned councillors’ appointment by Lim Guan Eng’s government as “did not meet the principles, criteria and processes of political appointment”. “It is undemocratic and non-transparent, and lacking public consultation”. Dah startlah, it is easy to say one thing but to do it is a whole different ball game. Keep observing my dear rakyat.
