GMI demonstration originally scheduled for tomorrow, but when Si Pin said that the police have announced that tomorrow’s march is illegal and possibility of violence, but in order to express support for GMI, Youth Gerakan change it today to walk from the MA Alliance Insurance Building (Menara MAA) to the national palace to submit a memorandum.

KUALA LUMPUR: Pemuda Gerakan hari ini gagal menyerahkan memorandum kepada Yang di-Pertuan Agong yang meminta supaya Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) dihapuskan.
Kira-kira 40 orang anggota Pemuda Gerakan termasuk ketuanya Lim Si Pin serta lima orang peguam yang berkumpul di hadapan Istana Negara gagal menyerahkan memorandum itu kepada wakil istana kerana penyerahan itu dikatakan tidak mengikut prosedur.
"Pihak istana menasihati kita supaya menulis surat penyerahan memorandum dan diberikan kepada istana. Kita akur dengan arahan itu dan akan menulis surat pada Isnin depan untuk diserahkan kepada istana," kata Lim kepada pemberita di hadapan Istana Negara.
Ditanya mengapa beliau menyerahkan memorandum itu hari ini, Lim berkata tindakan itu dibuat kerana Gerakan mengambil keputusan membatalkan hasrat menyertai perhimpunan anti-ISA esok.
Sebelum itu, kumpulan terbabit berkumpul di hadapan Wisma MAA di Jalan Lapangan Terbang Lama jam 2.30 petang untuk berarak ke Istana Negara tetapi terpaksa membatalkan rancangan itu setengah jam kemudian atas arahan polis.
Timbalan Ketua Polis Daerah Brickfields, Superintendan Azri Abdul Rahman ketika dihubungi berkata, tiada sebarang kekecohan berlaku dan keadaan adalah terkawal. – Bernama
