Article 8 of the Federal Constitution states ”all persons are equal before the law and entitled to the equal protection of the law”.

Today people from all walks of life are bound to face a moment of where or who to approach when faces problems related to legal issues, government bodies and public authorities.  In addition ignorance of the law is also no longer considered a bliss and no excuse.  The law and legal system is seen to be present and practical in our daily lives and routines.

Therefore the Public Complaints and Legal Bureau’s (‘the Bureau’) objective is to enlighten the public and the impecunious in particular as to the legal aspects pertaining to various fundamental rights/legal issues.  The Bureau believes that its role in the party as well as in the society is to contribute and lend a hand to achieving and upholding the principles of democracy and equal protection before the law.

In an effort to strengthen the Bureau’s commitment, it is to take all appropriate measures to come up with innovative initiations and forge smart partnership with NGOs and Bar Council on issues that are in line with the party’s ideology/objectives such as to to strive for an egalitarian Malaysian society and to repeal or review the ISA.
